I am thinking of just going with 1080i 24p mode without the pulldown steps.

Is there a big difference in cinematic look from without using the pulldown?

You have to remember that your 24P footage is recorded with Telecine 60i which perfectly stores 24P in a 60i stream.

To correctly edit Telecine 60i your NLE must be able to translate this correctly or objects in motion will look deformed in motion and in that case Inverse Telecine must be applied to the 60i stream to produce the the true 24P stream for your NLE to edit correctly.

Well try it for yourself and then decide. For me, right now I'm fine editing my 24p footage as 60i. I'm outputting to SD DVD and my DVD's playback very nicely on my plasma and LCD HDTV's. I do notice some ghosting however when I create computer files (e.g., .wmv) but that could be b/c I'm using interlaced footage. I have to try by deinterlacing first.

I did it without the pulldown removal. Guess what, it looks just as beautiful. You can download and see the clip yourself.

Taky,

The color in those shots is absolutely beautiful. How did you do it?

I didn't do it. HV20 did. It's just in 24p and Cine Mode. The color contrast got soften a bit after encoded into WMV format.

The focus is excellent as well. Is it on auto or manual?

Everything auto ... the Canon IAF is excellent.

Taky, I meant to ask you the first time I saw it but what is this soundtrack? Who is the artist? It fit the video nicely.
