I have been eyeballing this camcorder since the end of June/start of July. I have done a lot of little video things and am about to get serious about it and order 2 of these bad boys. And this site has helped me soooo much with a lot of generic stuff. And you guys/girls have made some seriously awesome videos on this site for people to DL. I just have a few questions.

What are the actual resolutions that you can record to. I know the crap about the no true 1920x1080 to tape. So no need to explain that to me. What I really want to know is if it has…
480p, 720p, and 1080p (I know its really 1440x1080 because of the tapes) and what resolution is 24p in. I don’t really see this covered bluntly. And if I'm not mistaken the interlaced is the 60i. Correct me if I'm wrong on that though.

But I have done video work and messed around with it since I was in highschool. I’m leaving my city job next month to pursue a new job and start a video company. I’ll be getting the city I currently work at as a client. I will be filming video documentaries that they will play at their welcome center. They will want a new video every month. I also have a few other regular clients lined up too. And last I plan to get with some local wedding places and work a deal with them to film and edit their wedding exclusively.

HV20 is capable of recording HDV standard (1440x1080) and DV (720x480 either 4:3 or 16:9).

24p is still 1440x1080 in 24 progressive frames per second (1080p)

It WILL NOT record to JVC ProHD format which is 1280x720 (720p)

It records in DV format which is 720x480 (480i) but not 480p.

What about HDMI? What would the resolution be?

Has anyone accomplished this feat? What did it entail?

HDMI output is 1920x1080.
It´s still unknown if this is scaled 1440x1080 or true 1920x1080, but there are no compression artifacts over HDMI and the color resolution is also better.

When you output live (i. e. not from tape) over HDMI, it is 1920x1080, probably not scaled, without any compression artifacts. When you output from tape, it's scaled from 1440x1080, and has compression artifacts. If you get a Blackmagic Intensity card, you can capture the live, uncompressed HDMI (not from tape) to get full 1920x1080 at 4:2:2 color sampling.

So there is no chance to get video in 1920 without bringing your desktop to shooting location. Damn! Are there any devices like FireStore for HV20, just to capture bypassing tape?

Don't we all wish.

Hey, somebody make a raid-0 hard-disk recorder with wavelet compression and HDMI in, kay? I'll wait ... :hv20-smilie123:
