Worley must be looking at the site with a white/grey background?
I did a poor job with the transparency thingy for the pic that shows on the Silver theme.

I see that the new logo has been updated to include the HV30. Great move. I do not know about anyone else, but the difference in the perspective of the photo of the HV20 compared to the HV30 sort of bothers me. At the end of the day its just a logo and is of course overshadowed by our great content, but I would like to offer this as another choice...

I'm with you on the perspective. Just like looking at a picture on the wall that is just off kilter slightly bothers me. There's been more than once that I have to straighten out a picture on the wall.

I like the camera on each side better though. It would just be nice if they both had the same perspective and both had their LCD display closed.

There's my two cents.

GREAT job on the logo!!!

Coincidentally, this is pretty much EXACTLY how Eugenia had proposed the logo to look like.

But you did a great job in its execution.

One thing that I'm not willing to part with though is the font, which is part of the identity.

If I'd have access to a graphics program (I might later on), I'd use only the pics of the cams, and insert the original font back into the logo. So I might do that today or tomorrow, seeing as you did a great job with the cams.

Oh yeah, and the other thing was, the logo will be smaller now, not 700 x 80, but 605x100. This was requested in order to be in tune with 640x480 displays of mobile devices.

Good deal, Mal.

Since the previous images that I posted were GIF's they would probably take a beating if you were to do another round of compression, so I am attaching the tif's without the title so you can put your own there. Also, these are now the right size(605x100). If you tell me the name of the original font, I can change it on my end and send you the final version.

Font is Hanzel Extended, but it also underwent some fancy-schmancy altererations in PSP.

Hanzel Extended. Are you sure thats the one? I found few variants of it and the capital "R" is way off. In all Hanzel variants, the "crutch"(right leg) of the "R" does not touch the left leg, very similar to "Arial". Also, the "V" does not round off at the bottom. You must be doing some voodoo on that font in Photoshop.:hv20-smilie03:

I was doing some OTHER logo thingy in PSP as well, and THAT used Hanzel Extended, now I think about it.
I can't see what this uses....unless....I have an idea....let me see if I can find out.

The text outline is still subpar. Looks like someone used a magic wand in Photoshop to remove background, not the letters look... well, you see how the logo looks. Not that I care much about it, I just wanted to throw a sour grape in the cocktail :)

The problem with novelty fonts is like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates: you never know what you're gonna get. Like that unfortunate "4," which looks like a "Y."

How sustainable is this? I mean, will there be an HV20/HV30/HV40/HV50 upgrade path?
It might be good to rethink the identity altogether. I suggest branding a new Domain and redirecting HV20.com and other HVxx domains to this. That way 2 years down the road the brand identity will survive all the upgrades. Model specific domains have a short lifespan.
Some suggestions that you may like:
- CanonHD.com
- HDuser.com
