Hi all,
great forum, have been reading for a couple of days and learned a lot.
I've got about £500 ($1000) to spend on my first video camera and based on my research have narrowed it down to the hv30 and a new samsung - HMX20C
Both are full HD, I've seen the image from the hv30 and love it, especially with 35mm lenses.
The sammy uses the new Sony sensor (same as casio ex f1) and sounds pretty promising - it's out in the UK mid June. There's some footage on Vimeo and it looks ok - not enough of it to make a decision though!
HMX20C pros:
-300fps mode
-1080p
-6.4mp for stills
cons
-lower bitrate AVCHC than HV30 HDV codec, AVCHD editing might be a pain though?
-handheld footage looks "shaky" (on vimeo anyway)
-will it be compatible with 35mm adapters?
here's tripod footage comparing hmx20c, hv20 and sony v1:

anyone who has experience with both cameras?
Thanks!
