use this thread on instruction to get 10% coupon
http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/messageview.php?catid=18&threadid=746424&highlight_key=y&keyword1=aaa+coupon

right now HV20 is on sale on CC for 949.99. with 10% coupon, you pay 855+ tax.

a great deal. if you have CC credit card, u get 1 yr finance interest free

no i dont work for CC. i just got myself one last week using 10% coupon. it's now $20 cheaper and i doubt that i can get price match of that since i used the coupon, but after playing around with it for a week, i'm very happy with it.

good thing about buying local is that you can exchange it if there is anything wrong with it- yes there is restocking fee for return, but exchange of the same or different camcorder you should get full credit for it.

Thank you for pointing this deal out, it finally made me get off my butt and go purchase my HV20 this morning. And thanks to the clueless associates over at CC I ended up getting even a better deal. :)

I went online and put together a shopping cart showing the following:

Regular Price = $1099.99
Instant Savings = $150.00
Sub Total After Instant Savings = $949.99
AAA 10% Coupon Savings = $95.00
Net Total Before Tax = $854.99

I printed up this shopping cart along with my 10% AAA coupon and took it around the corner to the Circuit City store so I could purchase my camera this morning.

I see the sales associate and ask if they do price matching from their website or if I need to go back home and purchase it online with "in-store" pickup? He tells me they will price match no problem and takes me over to the customer service desk where I am handed off to two young girls (one apparently a manager). He says that they will need to ring up the transaction because it's a web price match. He walks off...

They take a look at my printed documents and ring up the following:

**This is all the same as above**
Regular Price = $1099.99
Instant Savings = $150.00
Sub Total After Instant Savings = $949.99
AAA 10% Coupon Savings = $95.00
Net Total Before Tax = $854.99

Then comes the fun part, they add a line...

Website Price Match Instant Savings = $150.00

Final Price Before Tax = $704.99!!! :hv20-smilie09:

I bought my HV20 the day they came out in the UK for around £780, more than DOUBLE what you paid for it. Lucky sod!

Dude, you straight got HOOKED UP!! But, it getting such a phenomenal deal, I really think that humility is a little more in order, instead of tieing the word "clueless" to the company/employees that gave you such a sweet deal. Otherwise you come off as having swindled them. Oh, wait.

I'm sorry if I came off wrong but CC has worked me over more than once on repairs/warranty/insurance service so it felt kind of good to get a little moving back my way. I'm no-where near even...

What I meant when I said "clueless" is that these two girls looked for like 4-5 mins for a calculator so that they could figure out what 10% of $950 was. :hv20-smilie87: They ended up not being able to find one so they decided to take my word for it that it was $95. I'm sure not all CC employees are clueless...

All I know is, YOU GOT HOOKED UP!!!! I don't think ANYBODY has got CLOSE to the deal that you got, at least on the US model!! So dude, in my opinion Mr. Reap-what-you-sow straight hooked you up!!! :hv20-smilie110:

mpgphoto,
from reading this forum, it seems that there are quite alot of things you can get for this.

i myself got extra batteries - from titannotebook
http://www.pricegrabber.com/user_sales_getprod.php?masterid=3648205&lot_id=1397054&mode=googleff
this was recommended by other users on this forum, and so far those batteries have good reviews.

external mic is probably another must have. like other reviews, i did not like the built-in mic. but since i'm cheap, i went ahead and bought smx-10 azden mic- it's smaller of the rode videomic and it's stereo. it also takes aaa battery.
i also got rode sm3 mount to isolate any motor noise from the camcorder.

finally, i also got myself a multi-coated uv filter just so i wouldnt have to worry about exposing the lens (even though the camcorder has a built-in lens cover, i still want a filter in front of it while it's on).

the only mutli-coated hoya 43mm filter i can find is in bhphotovideo.com

if you're not doing any indie films or such, wide angle is more of a luxury item. for family home video, you probably wont benefit from wide angle lens as much.
