I have just notuced a problem about music im using, I am just know realizing how much of a headach it is going to be to go around copyright... So I want to make my own music. Not real professional band stuff or anything, just ambient music for short movies.

I just wanted to know if there was some type of application/program out there that I can do this, so I wont have to worry about copyright. I want to somehow control an entire orcastra somehow.. lol.

Any suggestions?

I have heard of this software Acid Music that you can make music loop easily. I don't own it so I don't know how good it is.

Acid is cool, Cinescore from Sony is OK, but for scoring videos, I think the king of the mountain (in my price range anyway) is Sonic Fire Pro. Gets great reviews everywhere. Being a Sony Vegas used I bought Cinescore, and I am currently passing time hoping Sony updates it soon. If nothing happens through this year or so, I am getting Sonic Fire Pro from my wife for Christmas for sure.

I use Sony Cinescore. The limted themes are a problem. I saw a demo of Sonic Fire Pro (well Liquid Edition 7 which as a version built-in) and it was pretty neat.

You tell the program how long to make the music, you can vary the intensity of the various instruments (certain music tracks only), and away you go. And if you decide you need to change the length of the track, you simply drag the end to the length you want.

Sonic Fire has a huge range of music available. Cinescore is much more limited.

But if you just want fun and free, try Microsoft Music Producer. It's no longer available - I don't thing it make it past Beta, but if you search, you'll find it. It's so bad, it's relly very good.

I use Magix Music Maker Deluxe (I've had ver. 9-12). http://site.magix.net/english-us/home/music/
Time consuming since it's all loops (buy their Sound Pool collection for thousands of samples.) But if you've ever wanted to make music but can't play an instrument, this is it (a lot like Sony ACID is suppose.)

I write my own stuff using FL Studio. What kind of thing are you looking for?

well Rikki, I dont have anything in mind as of now. If going to be putting a few short films together for practice to see what people think of them, and the music would be based around each spacific film... I cant really say what kind of music im looking for, Im not very professional when it comes to the music depatment.

If anything it would be a ambient background that builds suspense or tension between two characters.

Im not amazing by any stretch of the imagination but Ive produced some music for people before and I some in back catalog, there are also a lot of other people around that would gladly chip in for a mention in the credits.
