Has anyone had any thoughts about trying to rig some sort of bayonet mount (for example)? I'm buying both the Canon wide angle and the telephoto lenses and I hate the thought of screwing and unscrewing them on and off every time. I wonder whether if we had a low-profile bayonet mount pair it would allow the lenses to still perform properly and yet give a ease of changing lenses in mid stream.

While I was screwing around with building my own 35mm adapter, I actually took the female end of the 35mm lens mount, glued it to a 58mm ring, which was screwed onto a step down ring to fit the HV20. Then I took the male end of the lens mount and glued it to my wide angle lens. I used some kind of super rubber cement glue that would not damage any glass and would still hold forever. Now all you would have to do is connect the lens like a regular 35mm lens. I know this seems rudimentary, but if you can get a nice connect with the glues, it won't look bad once it's all done.
I hope this makes sense. I would send a picture, but I have since disassembled that project so I could finish the 35mm adapter.
