I just picked up an HV20 and so far I'm really liking it a lot. However, instead of connecting the camera via FW to a Mac, what I'm looking for is a pro rack unit to add into our recording studio (basically adding post production capabilities). I'd like to be able to take the tapes from the HV20, put them into this machine, and have excellent video and audio quality output from the rear so I can connect it up to our ProTools rig (balanced XLR audio outs and whatever is the proper pro grade video outs). We've got a machine running Final Cut Studio 2 in one of the offices so I'll need a way to sync the video with the audio. You can do minor video editing in ProTools and get the audio in sync but I was messing around with Final Cut last night and doing anything with the audio was a serious pain.
So, anyone know what machines I should be taking a look at?
