International Video Project - Executive Producer
Right, let's get the show on the road. We're looking for an HV20 member to be in charge of an International Video Project. (http://www.hv20.com/showthread.php?t=10157) This project should take no longer than 6 months, and you will be in charge of calling all the shots. You will have an assistant producer who you can delegate tasks to, and who will step in when you can't. You will be in charge of:
- putting out adverts for and selecting the rest of the crew (executive director, scriptwriter, editor, etc)
- making sure release forms are signed
- making sure everybody knows what's expected of them and when :hv20-smilie58:
- pulling this project together in time and under budget. your budget is $0 btw. :hv20-smilie81:
I will be there to assist you with the project management side of things every step of the way (or until I quit:hv20-smilie24:). This is a not-for-profit venture, and any profit made will go towards the upkeep of this site. Anything above that will go to a charity of the crew's choice (by popular vote)
Please send me a PM with the title 'EXECUTIVE PRODUCER' if you are interested in this position. In this pm, send me no more than 3 sentences of why you think you're right for this job. I will collate all applications, and throw out ones I don't think is suitable, and put the remainder up for a public vote. Winner takes all. It's important to note that even if you are executive producer, you can still wear other hats, like director of a location shoot, or whatever.
Don't be afraid to apply for this job, we're looking for someone who knows how to work with and manage people, someone who have some spare time in the next 6 months, someone with knowledge and experience of making a movie, and someone with a cool head. I'm looking for people of the calibre of Erik Bien; Taky; tcindie; worley; jo the big o; mal; lordtangent; bluegrass; mattias; etc (by no means an exhaustive list, this is just to get you guys thinking)
Above all, lets have fun with this.
Send your applications in now. You have until 1 May 2008. If we receive enough entries early on, we may close this window of opportunity to apply early.
If you don't think you're up for the Executive Producer job but would like to try out for Executive Producer's assistant, then send me a PM with 'EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS ASSISTANT' in the title with 3 sentences of why we should pick you. Same window of opportunity applies.
START WRITING THOSE APPLICATIONS AND BE A PART OF SOMETHING HUGE!!! :hv20-smilie09:

To make it easier for our future Executive Producer, please reply to this post to show your intention to be a part of this project in any way, shape or form.
I'll throw my hat into the ring first:
I'm located just outside London in the UK, and I'm willing to assist with Project Management duties, as well as helping out with any location filming needed.
Now it's your turn. Yes, YOU, reading this. :hv20-smilie87:

Of course I'm in. I will do anything the EP asks me to do for this project. I will be more than happy to share with the EP what my strong & weak points are to assist him/her in assigning tasks. I'm located in Saint Louis, Missouri - home of the Cardinals.
I have an HV20, HV30, 2 older Canon DV camcorders, various XLR mics, Zoom4 recorder, highest end Juicedlink audio adaptor, wide angle adaptor lenses, DVTek MultirigPro, plus some misc equipment. I'm thinking very seriously of purchasing a 35 mm adaptor and learning how to make use of narrow DOF video framing. I've been editing for a few years with Pinnacle Studio and just purchased Vegas 8 Pro to widen my editing abilities. I've been servicing computers since 1969.
Weak points:
1. Old and decrepid.
2. I think I have A.D.D.
3. I have lots to learn about good video shooting.
4. I'm only good with fairly simple and basic editing.
5. High school education only.
6. I'm bad at spelding.
Strong points:
1. I have lots of life experiences including 4 years in the Navy having done a med cruise and many Carrbean crusises.
2. Have traveled to Latvia, Estonia, Ukrain, Belerussia to assits with setting up typesetting PCs for Lutheran Hour.
3. I am fairly knowledgeable with PCs.
4. I have a can do attitude.
5. I am willing to take risks for a worthy cause.
6. I dream up a lot of ideas.
7. I'm a good follower.
8. I enjoy challenges and getting my hands dirty where & when needed.
9. I have a decent amount of equipment that I can use for this project.
10. I can recognize good humor when I see & hear it, but I sometimes don't understand the new lingo of young people. I learn it fast though.

I believe I am having a very typical problem . . .
Suppose I would quit my job (I don't have one anymore, as I retired)
Suppose my boss would place an add in the papers to look for my succesor
I am convinced, the tasks for that job would be suscribed in such way, that I would not dare to apply. Tasks are always blown outer proportions.
But nevertheless, I would not dare to apply for the EP job.
I would be proud to be a part of the project anyhow. For the crew to decide in which form.
My weaks points:
Easily impressed by authorities,
No 35mm adaptor.
Very task oriented; can't perform patience when things should be finished,
My strong points:
Proven to be succesful in comunicating with people of all levels,
Like to participate in brainstrom session to create synopsis,
Got two right hands,
Expert in mechanical design and construction (inventive),
Could be easy for me to loan or rent any gear, up to cranes and lighting stuff.
Lots of spare time.

Northern New Jersey, USA reporting in.
I've been climbing the entertainment wall for 42 years (I'm 54). May be climbing for sometime to come. Nevertheless I would like to take part in some way.
The best way to say how much time I have is, I'm raising twin boys (11 years old), supervisor of a 30 man construction crew and when my wife finishes with me, the rest of the time is mine.
I have a HV20, Letus35 Mini, handful of Nikon lenses. Mac FCP 5.1.4, Sony HC1, new and old audio gear.
Good points/bad points, depends on the day.
I'm currently in pre-production on my 5th short film. (first HV20 & Letus35 Mini) Also just finished my first feature film screenplay.

Pencil Woogie in for a character roll in the movie. I almost always laugh myself to death when I see his photo pop up. By the way, that face would murder somebody who had the "laughing" virus lying dorment in their system.

hey, I'm from central Michigan and haven't been here long, but I've had my HV20 for a year now(+dof adapter), and I've been making short films since i was ten...which is only 8 years, but i have a bit of experience.
I have way too much free time, and would like to help where ever possible.
Tell me what you need at the moment.

I'm looking for people of the calibre of Erik Bien; Taky; tcindie; worley; jo the big o; mal; lordtangent; bluegrass; mattias; etc (by no means an exhaustive list, this is just to get you guys thinking).
I am duly flattered to be included in this list, but just so you know, the further I stray from the art department, the less qualified I am ... :hv20-smilie31:
Despite that fact, there's also the small matter of RED One #1880 (funds wired, delivery pending). I'm not the owner, but since I convinced him to buy and helped him pimp it out with accessories, it's probably safe to assume I will be on the hook to help it make fantastic pictures in some capacity, maybe even something I'm actually experienced/qualified/good at like art director, production designer, or on-set dresser. Schedules for these sorts of jobs are typically measured in 6- or 7-day weeks of 10-14 hour production days, so I will be acutely short of free time if and when it happens.
I however remain interested in the IVP project and would hope to contribute something -- a couple of quick HV20 shots for the 'international montage,' maybe?

I could help out with the Exec. Producer job if needed.
I don't want to get into anything legal such as release forms though.:hv20-smilie77:

Hey electro, that's great! Do you have any videos online of your work?
Dont worry about the legal stuff, the release forms is just to make sure nobody can claim right to the work, as it's going to be like an open source project.

Ok, we've past the deadline and the only offer to run this thing was from electro, so no vote is neccesary, electro, you're the man, congrats! :hv20-smilie77:
Send me a pm with your e-mail address and we'll discuss next steps from here on end to make a cool truly international movie.
