Very nice. Magic Bullet is great. It takes forever to render, but the results are well worth it.

I'd love to see your finished product. I'm working on a short subject sci-fi using magic bullet...I'll post it when ready.

Thanks all so much for the comments :) Magic bullet did take a long time to render it took about 12-13 hours if i remember correctly.Cinemode was used everything else was standard setting ( apart from correctly setting white ballance ). As for lighting all was done in daytime, basement was lightly lit but not dark at all, the illusion is purely the magic bullet effect ( wich you will see in the pics i'll post up later) i will post some before and after pics for you all to see, and put up a raw file. What will host such large raw files ??? But i have work ( its 6:30am here in oz ) and i start @ 7:30. so will post this after noon. tkmslee remember to post the link for your movie. Regards Marty.

Thanks for the kind words sean90291/PWHerman :) Here are the before and after magic bullet pics, i would have out more but i cant find some of the original footage, i think i may have deleted it  but as you can see in these pics all were done in daylight ( or in quite high lighting ) with the magic bullet 'night scene' filter added. sorry guys but i dont think i can add a raw 'original footage' clip as i cant find the m2t's.... but i can upload a raw file of the movie w/ MB filter and SFX wich is 719MB so if you know where i can host it let me know. I know if you are using Final Cut for editing, there is a separate fcp document that comes with the plug ins and you have to open it up as a project file to see the presets.

I don't know how it is for After Effects though. Good luck!

Thanks glad they worked, i used cinmode and TV mode ( had to use tv as cine mode cut out alot of the smoke detail in some scenes ) i'm just waiting for a 35mm adaptor to finish the short should be here in a few days. - marty.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread of mine but I’m getting some time on my hand in about 1 week and should have some days to add some scenes to my movie ( I plan on finishing it by late next year ) however I have some questions that I thought would get some input on :

Now that I have my rig almost finished (just waiting for my fellow focus) and have my Letus 35 I will be adding scenes that will have DOF. Whereas the whole film (except grabbing the phone in the very last scene) were all shot with no 35mm adaptor.... now should I go back and re-shoot some scenes with the Letus 35 or leave it as is? i was thinking i could just leave it but was wondering what you guys thought....

ok cool let me know what you think, no its the letus flip enhaned ( the extreme wasnt avaliable when i made my purchase ). For the very last scnene when i grab the phone it was shot with a DIY 35 adaptor.. but now i have my letus :hv20-smilie77:

i uploaded a 720p HD version at stage 6 :

http://stage6.divx.com/Martys-Indie-Movies/video/1902184/

It still needs editing to it like filtering the sounds while upstairs, as the sounds woudn't be heard so crisp/clearly from the basement so i'm going to run a low pass filters on the sounds with the shots done upstairs (for the sound coming from downstairs in the basement).

Hey marty, looking good! :hv20-smilie77:

You might consider adding another one or two "establishing shots" at the beginning to help make the point that he's alone in the house ... maybe after the shots of the tree branches, a low angle of a lonely-looking house with all the lights off ... then maybe a wider shot of him sleeping, pushing in slow (give the audience a bit more context, make them wonder if it's a POV shot from the monster/murderer, etc.).

A minor quibble: your "fog" is a bit distracting -- it almost looks as if something is burning! I know renting a "hazer" might be beyond your budget, but maybe if you fog the set heavily and then let it "settle" for a couple of minutes before rolling it would be a bit more diffuse. It's tough getting fog to match from shot to shot!

(And at the risk of sounding like a dinosaur, I still think it's pretty cool we can check out what people on the other side of the globe are doing with their HV20s through the magic of the Internet!)

Hey Marty...looks good so far....also what Erik said I kind of agree with. Here's one more tip... Do you think maybe you can either re-film the opening exterior scenes with some actual wind blowing through the branches etc., or maybe change the sound byte to match what we see?? The sound effects are nice but it does not match the scene...there is absolutely no motion in that footage...but yet I hear a lot of things going on in the sound bytes. Personally ...if you do decide to do one or the other I would go with the re-shoot because those sound bytes come off real good for a horror film...

Just a thought...

Excellent advice!!! I added a wide shot of my house and changed the tree/branch shots to moving in wind shots wich came out great, I’m going to shoot a wider shot of him sleeping and see if that works (later in the week). As for the fog, I like how it came so I think I’m going to leave it (though I might edit some to reduce the amount seen) but the fog doesn’t settle but tends to rise :)

I too love that we can see peoples work with their HV20's around the world.

PS: To all watching this short I accept criticism weather it be constructive, positive or negative it all help improve my movie so keep it coming

Stage6 Shutdown

Stage6.com has been shut down. Thank you for supporting the service.

We created Stage6 with the mission of empowering content creators and viewers to discover a new kind of video experience. Ultimately, the continued operation of Stage6 was a very expensive enterprise that required an enormous amount of attention and resources that we at DivX are not in a position to continue to provide. There are a lot of other details involved, but at the end of the day it's really as simple as that.

The DivX experience will continue, of course. Every day new DivX Certified devices arrive on the market making it easy to move video beyond the PC. Products powered by DivX Connected, our new initiative that lets users stream video, photos, music and Internet services from the PC to the TV, are hitting retail outlets. We remain committed to empowering content creators to deliver high quality video to a wide audience, and we'll continue to offer services that will make it easy to find videos online in the DivX format.

It's been a wild ride, and none of it would have been possible without the support of our users. Thank you for making Stage6 everything that it was.

hey guys the movie is coming along i have it almost done, i have put it in the correct sequence from start to finish (running about 6:24 total) all it needs is some cgi with after effects to finish a few scenes, but i have a problem...

i'm having trouble with the sound side of things... i need some help of anyone who does sound or has an input of what i should do... now this is from 3:38 onwards i'm pretty happy with the sound before that point. any ideas on SFX to use/music where it should go ect... would be very much appriciated.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8JAE9ZBP

as the movie is in HD ( HDV mpeg2 format ) the file size was 1.20GB so i converted it to AVCHD ( H.264 format ) and the resulting file is 422MB keeping an awesom quality. Download it and let me know what you think.
