Yes, yet another forum discussing video/video creation/video cameras.
Although this one is heavily HV20 and HV10 bias, it is meant for all types of video creation.
This is brand new as of February 23rd, 2007, and is being set-up over the next few weeks...

Join, have fun, whatever...

So what does it take to make a forum LOOK like the other place? I don't mean exact colors and stuff... but the general layout. Was that custom work? I seriously think the LOOK of that place plays a huge factor on it's success. The pages are simply pleasant to look at... I like the dark and subdued character of it all... late at night I can sit in my underwear with a beer and the layout is easy on the eyes. I mean the forum, not my personal layout.

I've always wondered about this issue. There's a forum called DVfreelancer that a bunch of guys tried to get going... they wanted me to be an audio admin there. This place ALREADY looks a lot better then that... but anyway... I think the better the finish the more likely people are to start clustering around.

I love the idea though.

Log into the admin panel, and there you can customize until the cows come home. I mean really; you can change just about any setting imaginable.
Currently it looks the way "it comes out of the box".

There, I played around a bit and it already looks better.
I'll work on the buttons next...

Okay yeah... this ROCKS. Very cool. Now maybe just the smiley options... and that's all I can think of... my font right now is a touch small... but I think I can fix that... either way I can get used to this easy. Did I mention that green is my favorite color?

Matt is very happy. Man even if it's JUST US I will probably put some stuff up here. I already read about the HV20 and I think I'll be getting one of those! :)

I have warm-fuzzies going. I think I'm going to put up some super valuable stuff on here... then we can link it or just see what happens.

I've been over-due to renovate the "everything I know about mics" thread... and a few other things can use some attention over there... but maybe it wouldn't hurt to put it here. At least then I can't say "hey do a search man!"

I can't believe how effectively you got this going JUST TODAY!

The guys at DVfreelancer need you... seriously if their forum LOOKED and functioned like this I'd probably hang out there more.

So do you want to tell anybody else about this place? :hv20-smilie81:

Last night my babe and I watched The Illusionist... I thought it was decent. It's funny that people compare that and The Prestige... and it's also funny that two "period" magic movies came out so close together. What's up with that?

Anyway... my conclusion? Prestige gets about an 8 out of 10... and the Illusionist gets about a 6. I enjoyed Paul G... and Norton was okay... but generally speaking I felt tricked by the movie. For me, plot twists need to follow certain base rules... where you can say "ah-ha! wow that was sneaky, but now I see"... instead of showing a guy fall to his death and then at the end saying "oh that was just a dummy... here I am"... I kind of felt like Prestige followed some traditional base rules that, while not genius level, were certainly entertaining enough to think back on the movie several times... I'll watch it again, and enjoy watching it again.

I'll watch Illusionist again... but mostly to analyze the dollyshots and also the illusion of lighting things by fire. I enjoyed the dark character of Illusionist, but I felt a little like I was watching an episode of bewitched. We are so far beyond accepting SIMPLE computer SFX and spotting them, that I felt the meat and potatoes magic in Illusionist was almost boring. Where Prestige excelled in this regard because they stayed (mostly) true to things that would appear to be normal, yet magically miraculous for the day.

Know what I mean?

Sure - let the world know! :hv20-smilie58:

Wife watched the Illusionist, I didn't. She liked it though.
It's weird when two almost identical films come out at the same time.
I'd think it has more to do with studio rivalry than coincidence though.
Wasn't there an almost identical film as Doctor Strangelove at the time? (well, sans comedy, sans Sellers).
There's more, but that's the only one that comes to mind.

Hello,

Just joined this brand spankin' new forum. Hopefully it will start getting busy once the cameras, and info about the camera starts trickling in. BYW, has anyone seen the impresswatch review? It's in japanese, but using Google language tools, it seems like they like it. It has even responsible for a little nickname for the cam..."the Monster'.

Looking forward to more info, reviews etc. I hear it may even start appesaring in march as opposed to April.

Hey there, and welcome!

Yes, I saw the translated Impress Watch article. Just found another where they compare it to the HV10 and the Sony HDR-HC7:
http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.impresswatch.com.cn%2 Fradio%2F276%2F3061776.shtml&langpair=ja%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools

I think you were referring to this one:
http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.watch.impress.co.jp%2 Fav%2Fdocs%2F20070207%2Fzooma294.htm&langpair=ja%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools

Both of those links have good photos and the second one is the one with VIDEO samples!

I am jumping for joy right now!

HV20.com!!!

This camera is a godsend. Obviously you already know that! Thank you for being so proactive in focusing a whole forum so centrally around all things HV20! This camera is revolutionary, and you have wasted no time in organizing the users of this new tool. Because of its low price, yet vast capabilities, those users, I believe, will run the gamut of old to young, rich to not-so-rich, premeditative to unpredictable. The imagery coming out of this thing is so stunning that it's like a 16mm camera that somehow only costs $5 an hour for stock and processing. Plus it records sync-sound and fits in the palm of your hand!

Let's all shoot our hearts out and see who can win an Academy Award with a thousand dollar video camera.

Three cheers for HV20.com! Three cheers for the HV20!

seriously... when I first heard of it, I wondered if it would be the 16mm Bolex in the toolbox... Can't wait to save up the scratch for it. Anyone used the wide-angle adaptor from Canon? And has anyone had success getting it into a 24p FCP timeline?

Just wanted to give a big shout out to Mal for creating this incredible resource. The amount of stuff I've learned on here, and am contributing to, is just amazing. :hv20-smilie110:

Kinda funny to read the early posts in this thread - bet it doesn't seem so lonely anymore, eh Mal? The traffic on this thing must be enormous :hv20-smilie15:.

LOL, yeah,. I thought there'd be 100 members....and it would last for no more than 6 months.

In fact the whole thing, dare I say, only started because I wanted to test the software for email integration!
